Trip Report Introduction: Just Another Short Weekend Trip...

April 27, 2018

They just keep on coming don't they?

Recently, I've finding myself going on many college visits around the country. The reason that I've been doing this is that I want to maximize the number of college visits before the stressful Junior and Senior years of high school. As such, I've been traveling to colleges both far and near to get a sense of where I would be headed after college.

This report will be fairly short and brief. I'll be traveling to Raleigh, North Carolina, over one weekend to tour Duke University and UNC (University of North Carolina)-Chapel Hill. Unfortunately, flight options between the two cities are quite limited; only jetBlue and United offered mainline service on E190s and A320/B737s respectively. As we had some vouchers left over from some previous United flights, we decided to go with United again for this trip, despite the bad experience with them last time. After all, a 737 is much more comfortable than a CRJ-900.

Thankfully, the flight time between the two cities is only about 1 hour each way, with a distance of 400 miles between the cities. We would be leaving on Friday night, arriving in Raleigh half an hour before midnight, and we would be leaving Sunday morning on a 7 AM flight back to Newark. The routing is as follows:

4/27/2018 UA623 (Boeing 737-924ER, 1 hour 40 min block time, 416 miles/669 km) 21:45 EST to 23:25 EST

4/29/2018 UA1849 (Boeing 737-724, 1 hour 35 min block time, 416 miles/669 km) 07:08 EST to 08:43 EST
