Cathay Pacific's Black Friday Sale: Save 60% on Business Class Flights to Asia

November 26, 2017

It is fairly common for airlines to announce flash sales for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the hottest shopping dates in the nation. Cathay Pacific Airways, based in Hong Kong, is certainly no exception. Over the past few days, we've seen some incredible deals from this airline, as business class flights from the United States to Asia, as well as certain Premium Economy and regular Economy routes, are included in this promotion. Here's the breakdown:

Airline: Cathay Pacific

Routes: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco to various Asian destinations with a stopover in Hong Kong

Cost: $3,000 - $3,465 in Business (up to 60% off), $1,185 - $1,802 in Premium Economy (roughly 50% off)

Booking Deadline: November 29, 2017

Applicable Travel Dates: January 1, 2018 to May 31, 2018

Where to book: Cathay Pacific's Website

Being one of the world's most well-regarded airlines, Cathay Pacific generally offers extremely high fares, especially in their premium cabins. However, from time to time they do offer some excellent deals on these products, such as the one above. Most of Cathay's longhaul aircraft offer a reverse herringbone lie-flat layout, with increased privacy and direct aisle access from every seat. Manufactured by Zodiac Aerospace, these seats are some of the best in the industry, and have been adopted by many other airlines across the globe. Premium Economy, on the other hand, is more similar to domestic first class within the United States, with large recliner chairs. In order to maximize your benefits on this deal, we recommend making the purchase using a "premium" credit card, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve (which will net you 3 points per dollar spent on airfare), and the Amex Platinum Card (5 points per dollar on airfare). That means you'll earn at least 9,561 and 15,935 points, respectively, on these cards. For reference, I value Chase Ultimate Rewards Points at 2.2 cents each, and American Membership Reward Points at 1.8 cents apiece.
